These are a few of my Favorite FITNESS Things!

I have collected a number of running accessories over the last few years. Some are great and some are a waste of money! Whether you are a veteran or just beginning here are a few things I like:

Supplements, Proteins & Enhancers

Herbalife: Managing or losing weight I love the Herbalife Formula 1 and sometimes I add a little extra scoop of protein.  There is a line called Herbalife 24 for the athlete or if you are trying to build muscle!

You know when you look at a picture of yourself and think? Oh man.... when did I get a gut?

I have used Herbalife since 2012! I have lost Body Fat, inches and been able to keep it off. I take my supplements and formula 1 once a day! Sometimes twice if I'm feeling it!
Since using Herbalife I am a lot more aware of what I am eating.
Herbalife is pretty equal in price when it comes to your regular proteins you may buy from the store or nutrition place. However there are 9 Grams of protein per serving on the formula 1 and the protein adds additional giving you about 25 grams! Herbalife has 3g of sugar 0 Cholesterol and 1 g of fat.

Even better there is a 30-day money back guarantee.
If you are looking for more muscle building, Herbalife may be a better fit for you here are details about Herbalife 24

PLUS the flavors are absolutely fabulous- cookies n' cream, cafe latte, pina colada, berry, vanilla, chocolate, mint, orange (seasonal)!

The core products are a MUST HAVE: Formula 1, Multivitamin and the Cell Activator.

Herbalife has established a Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) comprised of leading experts in the fields of nutrition and health who help educate and train our Members -on the principles of nutrition, balanced eating, physical activity and leading a healthy life.

Running Supports

There are a lot of fitness trackers. I have the JAWBONE UP Band and I love it. My favorite part is that it tracks my sleep. There is a sleep reminder alarm- which helps me to go to bed at the same time every night and gently wakes me up when I am in a light sleep cycle. I love tracking my steps and food!
I have the older generation, which isn't that old! (1year) and its significantly cheaper!

If you don't want to spend a lot of money on the wristbands, Nike+ is a great option. It does great tracking your distance and average speed. There is an app that uses GPS on your phone but I also have this! Nike+ fits inside or on your shoe and will connect to your iPod.

To prevent chafing and irritation there are a few Must Have Products

Injuries are inevitable, but do happen. Learn more about why I love Deep Blue here.

KT Tape helps during your workout prevent injury! I use this on my knee. I tore my ACL, MCL, meniscus, patella in 2009, and occasionally I get swelling in my joints. I like this because I feel like I am getting additional support without having to wear my Don Joy brace
There are instructions that show you how and where to put the tape strips for various injuries

GU and Shot Blocks are a MUST when working out and running for a long period of time. These are easy to eat and taste pretty good.
They last about 45 minutes of extra energy

Compression Socks also help increase the blood flow and allow legs to recover after a hard/long run! It's a must.

I love and live on these products. It's amazing how it can help you and change you for the better.
Good Luck and be strong, run on!

Exploring Long Island

I have a slight obsession with the ABC TV Show Revenge.  In fact it has consumed my Sunday nights for the last 3 years. Its a thrilling Drama filled with extremely wealthy characters living in the Hamptons of Long Island seeking love, power, money, and revenge. When Evan suggested that we take a weekend trip to the Hamptons I became overwhelmingly excited! I had high hopes to see the large houses as previewed in the show. As we were driving we found out that the film is actually filmed in North Carolina, but there were a few homes we could see that replicated the lovely beach house belonging to Miss Emily Thorne could be found in the Hamptons.

It was a beautiful 2 hour drive out there. The people are friendly and drivers never honk. It was a breath of fresh air.

We pulled into South Hampton and drove down the main street. It was filled with little shops, boutiques and even a few high end retailers. Of course we stopped to get some ice cream. The only downfall was everything closed at 5pm. So there wasn't much to see. I assume Friday Night in the Hamptons for locals includes an exclusive invitation to a private cocktail party in a large beach mansion with a required $500,000 donation to a charity, tuxedo and silk gown, of which we had neither so we just stuck to the basic exploration.

During our drive we ran into the first house built in the Hamptons. It was built in 1648 and was owned by the Housley family. Pretty cool. Unlucky for us the museum isn't open until Summer.

My favorite part was finding an identical model of Emily Thorne's Beach House. Or at least it was a pretty close copy of it.

The beach in the Hamptons is GLORIOUS. These are pictures from beaches of both the East and South Hamptons. It was rather picturesque and so so beautiful.

East Hampton Beach

We stayed in Riverhead, which was 30 minutes from the South Hampton area, for some reason there are NO hotels and all of the little Bed n' Breakfast places were booked... (*side note some cost $1,200 per night. Or you could rent a home for $350,000 for 2 months.)

Riverhead was awesome. We were right across from the Tanger Outlet Malls in the Hilton! YES, I went shopping. I bought nothing but I spent a quality 4 hours browsing, and it was delightful. Evan was a trooper and was extremely patient with my shopping. We had extremely delicious Greek Food and walked along the river. This area was awesome.

The next day we made a trip to the most east part of Long Island, Montauk. It was a cute little town with shops, bike rentals, surfers and a lot of crab shacks. This was the opening day for BuddhaBerry Frozen Yogurt! The yogurt was made of all natural products and the toppings included delicious things like flax, chia and an assortment of nuts! Pretty heavenly.

We explored the town but my favorite thing was the lighthouse. This light house was directed to be built by President George Washington. It was built 300ft from the shore, but has eroded to 100ft. We climbed to the top and stood on the balcony! Amazing view. The Lighthouse is still operated by the United States Coast Guard, so we weren't allowed to take photos or use our phone at the top.

Across the way was an abandoned World War II Military Base. We weren't able to get in close proximity of the abandoned military base, but what we were able to see was pretty cool. As much as I wanted to crawl through the brush to get there, there were warning signs everywhere about lime disease ticks. I think I'll stay close to this cliff and take pictures from here.

We continued to explore the Montauk area and made our way to the Harbor!

On our way out of the Hamptons we came along this Garden Statue Store, it had statues ranging from Dragons John Wayne. I don't know who would buy such things, but it was fun to look at. After awhile it felt creapy walking around with all of these.

It was an absolutely fantastic weekend. Rare for Evan to have Saturday and Sunday off so it was great to explore places other than Manhattan.

We loved the Hamptons, Montauk and Riverhead!
Thanks for exploring with us.

Day 15: Shopping, Cookies, Happy

Mondays: The most productive day of the week. Seriously. We were up at 5:30am, Evan went to work, I went for a run, did laundry, cleaned the house, did a bunch of camp emails and got ready all before 9:30 am. If I were like this everyday, who knows what I could do.

Spring will never come. My run this morning was 20 degrees, sunny and freezing.

In the past 3 days I've managed to break our apple slicer, can opener and melt our spatula.
It's Birthday Week so I decided to incorporate a little shopping into my day at TJMAXX. I love that place! I obviously was looking for a few new kitchen tools and well there were a few things I didn't have. Thanks to a few Wedding Gift Cards and their wonderful 50%-75% sale on Kitchen Aid this is what I came up with. Yep all the tools were $1.50-$5.00, and I love the colors!
Beautiful right??

Costco was my next stop! They have some awesome cooking ingredients that are expensive at the local stores!

Himalayan Pink Salt $3.98 at Costco, $12.99 at the local store for a 3oz bottle!
What? INSANE. This salt is extremely flavorful and so pure.

Agave 2 bottles at Costco for $5.98. A small little 12oz bottle at the local store was  $4 something

Good Deals, Good Steals today!

Evan requested Chocolate Chip Cookies... He thought they were so delicious, I was surprised how good they were. I ate some batter and 2 cookies. I forgot how allergic I am to Almonds so that made me super sick. But they were so good it was almost worth it... almost. I loved eating them in the moment.

On another note Almond makes my stomach feel like death
I rubbed some DoTerra DigestZen  (which is a blend of Ginger, peppermint, tarragon, fennel, caraway, coriander and anise ) on my stomach and within the hour the pain and nausea was pretty much gone but holy cow I was feeling so much better.

Good Day, Good Food, Good Fun
