Looking back on the 2002 Olympics

I love the Olympics! Both winter and summer events, but what I love most is the unity that occurs. Not only cheering for your Country but all athletes and their accomplishments. It's a time where all nations can come together in peace for competition.

It's been 12 years since the Olympics were in Salt Lake City where I was able to have so many awesome experiences. I recall waiting on the Bountiful High School Track to watch the Olympic Torch run by. We stood in the cold for hours to get a good seat.
My dad and I went to Park City to watch the 2 man Bobsled- my dad's cousin from Ohio provided our entire family with tickets. Each of us attended a different event (I think I was most excited about the Bobsled because how obsessed I was with the movie "Cool Runnings".)
There wasn't much to see because they flew by so quickly, but it was still so incredibly exciting!

Most of all I was able to perform on Temple Square in the LDS Church's Production of "Light of the World".  The Conference Center was transformed into a globe and we danced and sang representing each nation of the world. (To my recollection I had to represent North Korea because there was another Korean girl in the group. )

Our dressing room was a closed off parking space in the garage where we hung out until it was our turn on stage. My grades were incredibly high that quarter because I could ask all of the "big kids" for help with math!
Despite the terrible back stage snacks of daily cheese cubes and turkey,
I don't think I understood what a great opportunity I had at the grand age of 12.

performing in the Tabernacle with the Kings' Singers)
That's me front and center in yellow- braces and all!

In addition to this production, I was able to sing with the Mormon Tabernacle in weekly broadcasts, and special concerts. We met the Prophet, First Presidency multiple times in addition to renowned musicians and artists such as the
Kings' Singers
John Williams (Composer)
Fredrica Van Stade (Artist)

Such an experience will likely never happen again, but I hope to one day see the Olympics again first hand. Can't wait to see how the U.S. does this year!
