Since the "Match" has officially taken place this week - we are going to Tucson, Arizona in June for Evan's Residency in Family/Sports Medicine. He actually Pre-Matched back in February which was a big stress reliever. We are here in New York doing a 1 year internship- which is residency but its general.
What is the "match" you ask? You apply to programs you are interested in, if they are interested in you they will invite you to interview. After their interview process is finished they rank candidates. You then rate the programs you are interested in 1,2,3,4... If the program ranks you 4 and you rank them one. They will invite their 1, if their 1 says no they go on to 2,3, if 1,2,3 do not accept the you are their "MATCH".. Confused? It gets better. If you don't "match" you scramble- meaning you apply to programs who didn't match anyone and are looking to fill the holes. Not everyone gets into the scramble. Its a stressful time!
We feel so blessed to not only have had several interviews, but Evan Pre-matched- meaning they liked him so much they invited him to sign a contract in advance. It took a lot of stress off! We are super excited about this move! If anyone knows anything about Tucson and where to live, please comment below. We are looking for happy, clean, safe places. Not the kind where you hear gun shots every night and see helicopters with search lights looking for fugitives frequently (that was literally someone's experience they shared with me.... should I be worried?)
It's finally starting to get warm enough around here we can go outside without feeling like the "polar vortex" will send us to the grave. It's still chilly but its bearable. Today was officially the first run outside for spring- and it was AMAZING. I'll be happy when it's warm year round in Arizona. Maybe I will want to eat my words come July when it is 200 degrees and I feel like I'm going to melt but I think we will survive.
Today Evan go home early so we were able to catch a movie! The Muppets Most Wanted. First we made a stop to Target so Evan could get a hot dog to stuff in my purse and I could get some more of those LUNAbars that are paleo and amazing.
Review: The first 20 minutes I thought to myself this is the cheesiest movie on the planet. Then I remembered The Muppet movie always has a lot of singing and dancing. It wasn't as comical as the reviews said it would be, but as I got into the story I liked the movie more and more. I did enjoy seeing big actors/ musicians in it. There are a lot of random things in the movie but its cute! If you didn't see the first one they did a few years back you don't have to. All you need to know is that the Muppets are back together from years ago.
I didn't check the reviews of the theater we went to, until after but it had 2 stars! Here is my review of it: it was awful. we paid $11.75 per ticket. Our knees were touching the seat in front of us. The back of the seat was straight up and down. Our bodies were seated in an acute angled position. It was So uncomfortable my legs were asleep. Poor tall Evan who spread his legs as much as possible to even sit down. The screen is not centered to the room so we were looking to the left the whole time. The people in front of us were texting, their baby was crying, another baby was screaming no one was taking them out and then the lady across the aisle from us had her camera out and was taking pictures of the screen with the camera sound sound and the flash on. It was annoying to say the least. woooooooo.
Here is my Friday night confession: After the movie was out we got sushi. This place had high ratings and was right by the theater. We were starving and thought it sounded good. (Edo Sushi in Lynbrook, NY). It was a little hole in the wall place and there rolls were all cheap. My speciality rainbow roll was $7.25. It was actually really fresh and delicious tasting. We took it home and ate it- stretched out on the couch in our comfy clothes. The fish was probably fine, but the fact that my roll was covered in rice does not constitute paleo. Whatever though we had a good time tonight!
